Located in Orada, Borba municipality, Herdade Penedo Gordo is geographically located in a sublime microclimate for the production of Alentejo wines.
The dry climate, the marked thermal amplitudes and the complexity of the various types of soil give the vine a unique ability to produce grapes of the highest quality exceptional.
The vineyard is composed of 120ha of the red varieties Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonês, Trincadeira and Syrah and white grape varieties Roupeiro and Antão Vaz.
The winemaking is done in the wine cellar located right in the center of the vineyard, guaranteeing freshness and quality.
In addition to the vineyard, the Estate also has a large olive grove with the varieties Cobrançosa and Galega.
Herdade Penedo Gordo's team of technicians closely follow the vineyard to ensure a vintage with grapes in the correct maturation to produce better wines.
There is a constant concern not only with the quality of the grapes but also with the environment whereby our grapes are all produced in Integrated Production mode.
Our mission is to obtain the best grapes with respect for the environment that surrounds them, and for the existing systems in the vineyards.

Region | Wine from Alentejo

In southerm Portugal we find Alentenjo. Despie this regionbeing probably the biggest of the country, the sub-region able to produce High quality wines are very small. The climate in these sub-regions is tipicaly continental with a balance of hot and dry summers with harsh winters. In Borba, where Herdade Penedo Gordo is located, the unique terroir where the soil and climate blend with the most interesting set of grape varieties, allows producting original wines that not only have a differentiated quality as they also reflect the singularity of the region.
